High-Precision Millisecond Stopwatch with Laps & Splits

This digital Online Stopwatch measures elapsed time in MM:SS.msformat using your browser's high-resolution monotonic clock. Unlike basic JavaScript counters that lose accuracy when your CPU is busy or when you switch browser tabs, elapsed durations are computed directly against system timestamps on every display frame.

  1. Start / Pause: Click the primary Start button to begin timing and automatically engage the browser Screen Wake Lock so your display stays on.
  2. Record Laps (Flag Icon): While the stopwatch is running, click the Flag button to log a new row in the Laps Recorded table without interrupting the main clock.
  3. Export to Spreadsheet: Once you have recorded one or more laps, click Export CSV to download a ready-to-analyze .csv file containing every lap number, segment time, and cumulative split time.

Lap Time vs. Split Time Explained

MetricWhat It MeasuresExample (Three 30s Laps)
Lap TimeDuration of the individual interval since the previous flag click00:30.00, 00:30.00, 00:30.00
Split Time (Overall)Cumulative total time elapsed from 00:00.00 to that flag click00:30.00, 01:00.00, 01:30.00

Common Timing Applications

🏃 Track & Swim Splits

Log 400m track laps or 50m pool splits and export the CSV to compare pacing consistency across sets.

🧪 Lab & QA Benchmarks

Time chemical reaction stages, cold-boot durations, build pipelines, or manual UX testing tasks.

🎙️ Speeches & Speedruns

Monitor talk segments in Fullscreen mode or track level splits during gaming speedruns.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Lap Time measures the individual duration of a single segment (the time elapsed since you last pressed the Flag button). Split Time (Overall Time) shows the cumulative total time elapsed from the moment the stopwatch first started.
Clicking 'Export CSV' generates a standard UTF-8 spreadsheet file (stopwatch_laps_<timestamp>.csv) with three columns: Lap Number, Lap Time, and Overall Time, ordered chronologically from Lap #1 so you can open it directly in Excel or Google Sheets.
Instead of counting 10ms intervals that drift under heavy CPU load, this stopwatch reads high-resolution monotonic timestamps (performance.now()) on every animation frame, eliminating cumulative clock drift even over multi-hour sessions.
Yes. Because elapsed time is calculated against the initial start timestamp, switching tabs or minimizing the browser window never slows down the counter, and the browser tab title updates live with the current MM:SS.
No. You can record hundreds of consecutive laps in a single session; the scrollable lap table logs every entry in memory and exports the complete list when you click Export CSV.
